New dental clinic opens at Boise Bench elementary
Everybody is smiling at the Boise School District.

And it's not just a figure of speech.

The Boise School District officially dedicated its new Dental Clinic on Friday at a Boise Bench elementary school. The new clinic, located at the new Whitney Elementary, marks the 56th year the district, thanks to the support of volunteer community dentists, has offered free dental services to low income students.

The District's Dental clinic is thought to be one of the very first, if not the first dental clinic housed in a school setting in the U.S.

During the dedication ceremony, Boise School District Superintendent Dr. Stan Olson thanked voters who overwhelmingly supported passage of the 2006 bond election which made construction of the new Dental Clinic possible.

"This new Dental Clinic reflects our community's support of our children and the program we offer," said Dr. Stan Olson, Boise School District superintendent.

"We certainly do not take that support for granted and we feel very fortunate to live in a community that values our children's future and our children's health in this way."

The Dental Clinic is located at 1609 S. Owyhee St.
