BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho State Police were called to I-84 west of Caldwell on a Semi truck that caught on fire. The blaze stated at about 7:45 p.m. on Monday and blocked all west bound lanes for about an hour and a half leaving motorist stranded for about 6 miles.
The driver of the semi said while he was driving he noticed smoke from the floorboard that eventually filled the cab. He added that he then pulled over as flames started shooting up from his feet and was able to get over to the side of the road. He doesn’t know how the fire started - all he knows is that it was coming from the engine compartment.
The fire destroyed the truck and burnt a hole through his trailer where he was hauling paper bales but they didn’t catch on fire. The driver and his dog were able to make out of the truck with no injuries as Middleton fire crews and three other outlying back up crews helped to put the truck out.
