Police: 72-year-old man sexually touched child at home day care
CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) - A 72-year-old Nampa man appeared in state district court Tuesday on a charge that he touched a child in a sexual manner.

Ross White has been arrested for lewd conduct with a minor, an offense that carries the possibility of life in prison. Bond was set at $250,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19.

Officials say White's wife ran an in-home daycare and he committed the act while the child was in their care from 2007 to 2009. White allegedly committed 20 of the lewd acts to a 7-year-old girl during that time span.

White and his wife have operated in home day cares at various locations throughout Nampa, including the 50 block of Benewah Street as well as the 700 block of E Florida Street, police say.

Last August, another Nampa day care worker was charged with lewd conduct.

Police say 23-year-old Joshua Ritchie was working at Cornerstone Child Care in Nampa at the time a 5-year-old boy reported that Ritchie had touched him. Since that time Ritchie has admitted to sexually abusing more than 20 children.

He remains in jail on a $2.5 million bond. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
