BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A black bear apparently lost his way into the Treasure Valley Thursday morning.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office says the adult black bear was spotted at about 7:30 a.m. behind the Boise Veterans Administration Hospital on Fort Street.

"Once discovered, the bear, who really didn't seem to want to hang out with our deputies or Fish & Game officers, moved around Military Reserve Park," the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page.

After a few hours, Fish and Game officers managed to get close enough and tranquilized the bear. The sheriff's office says it's not sure why the bear decided to pay a visit to Boise. The trip, however, earned the bear a free ride to the Boise National Forest north of Lowman.

Fish and Game say additional bear sightings may occur over the next few months because of dry conditions in the mountains.

It's been a busy day for law enforcement and animals. Eagle Police are currently attempting to wrangle a loose bull near the Greenbelt and Merrill Park.
