Motion to kill trash-to-energy plant fails, project will move forward

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Ada County Commissioners met Friday morning with the energy company that wants to build a trash to electricity plant at the Ada County Landfill.

Dynamis took the floor to discuss the status of the controversial multi-million dollar facility, which prompted a heated dialogue with the commissioners.

Commissioners Sharon Ullman and Rick Yzaguirre signed a deal in 2010 with the company to burn the county's trash to make electricity.

Newly appointed Commissioner Dave Case, who defeated Ullman in the May primary, says he wants contract terminated immediately.

The motion was denied by Ullman and Yzaguirre.

Earlier this week, a group of homeowners filed a complaint with the Idaho Attorney General's Office requesting an investigation into the company and commissioners over alleged fraud.
