Boise State's Jordin Andrade works out in preparation for the 2013 U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Boise State's Jordin Andrade will test himself against the best 400 meter hurdlers in the country. But on Thursday, his competition is no longer limited to the college ranks. He'll push himself against professionals at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

"It really helps me out knowing that I'm on their level, I can compete with these guys. So, knowing that, next year when I'm going up against people that I'm kind of nervous to race against, hopefully I can know that I'm raced these kind of people before," said Andrade.

While the Boise State junior already knows when he's competing, one of his teammates isn't so sure. Distance runner Emma Bates will also make the trip to Des Moines, but she's still waiting to find out if they'll let her run. As of now, athletes already competing in the Women's 10K or 5K would have to pull out to give Bates a shot at running.
