World's First Ethanol Powered Plane

Tip your head back, look to the sky above, and you'll find Greg Poe flying high.

Greg Poe told CBS 2 Eyewitness News, "If I'm going to take a high performance airplane and fly 50 feet off the ground upside down I have to have a lot of confidence in the fuel I'm burning in the engine."

For Poe the sky's the limit for alternative fuel, Poe said, "This is the only unlimited aerobatic airplane in the whole world that burns ethanol fuel."

You could say Poe is fueling a revolution.

Poe said, "We use ethanol which is a renewable resource, it's made out of corn right here in the US and it burns cleaner, our engine runs cooler and it cuts down our dependency on foreign oil."

It's green, renewable, and best of all, it's grown in America.

The council on ethanol information says there are 40 percent fewer tailpipe emissions and greenhouse gases from E-85.

That's why Poe made the switch to E-85 and now he's spreading the word, "We go all over the country telling people, hey put alcohol in your car not that dirty petroleum product," Poe said.

His high powered performance thrills and chills leaves you feeling astonished, but more importantly more knowledgeable about the benefits of E-85.

Poe said, "There's an extra oxygen molecule in ethanol. Therefore, the product after you burn it there are less harmful emission that go into the atmosphere."

Ethanol is made primarily from corn and one bushel of corn yields two-point-eight gallons of ethanol.
