MOUNTAIN HOME - Tammy Lyn Law, 33, of Mountain Home, entered a guilty plea in federal court Monday to embezzlement from a credit union officials from the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Law admitted to embezzling more than $420,000 from Pioneer Federal Credit Union in Mountain Home.

Law managed the collections department of the credit union between 2002 and 2008.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 15 before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge in Boise. Law faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, and supervised release of five years following the term of incarceration.

The case was investigated jointly by the Mountain Home Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"The credit union is bonded and insured and there will be no loss to any credit union member," Pioneer said in a statement. "There was one member’s funds involved in this embezzlement scheme, and this account appears to have been chosen by the perpetrator because she had a non-business related connection to the account holders."

"Other than this one account, the schemes carried out did not involve member account funds. It was credit union funds misappropriated by Ms. Law through the diversion of credit union operating monies and/or assets and the falsification of expense invoices. These amounts were then channeled by Ms. Law, using several fraudulent means, to her for her own personal use."
