BOISE - A Nampa care-worker is suspected of sexually assaulting a resident of an assisted living home in Eagle.
Andrea Dearden, Ada County Sheriff's office spokesperson, says Thomas Hamlin, 42, was arrested for having sexual contact a mentally disabled resident at AarenBrooke Place Assisted Living Home.
Dearden said the victim was in her 50s and is mentally disabled.
Officials say the AarenBrooke owner, Angela Myer, 44, was also cited for failing to report the abuse in a timely manner. The alleged Incident occurred Jan. 19, however, it wasn't reported to authorities until Feb. 2.
When asked about the allegations, a women answering the front door to the facility said "no comment."
According to Idaho Code, assisted living centers must report abuse within four hours of learning about it. Ada County officials say the owner didn't find out about the abuse on the day of the incident, but still waited too long to report it.
"We are shocked and saddened by the events that are alleged to have taken place," AarenBrooke Place said in a faxed statement. "We are cooperating with the police concerning the investigation to make sure justice is done."
The assisted living center also said the "person who is the subject of the investigation is no longer employed by AarenBrooke Place."
Hamlin has been charged with sexual abuse or exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Hamlin's bond has been set at $50,000. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 27.
