BOISE - Two deadly bike verses car collisions in one week. On Friday the family of one of those victims spoke out about what they believed happened the night their dad died.
"It frustrates me that he was on that busy of an intersection," said Andrew Bettger, Thomas Bettger's son.
Andrew doesn't know why.
"He was crossing the light when he was not suppose to and it was not his turn," said Andrew.
But he says his dad, 62-year-old Thomas Bettger, made a decision while riding his bike that may have cost his life.
"The young man that was driving had his visor down, looking into the sun and my dad was crossing the street when he shouldn't have been," said Andrew.
The collision happened Thursday night. Bettger's family says he was running an errand near Milwaukee and Emerald Streets when police say a car collided with his bike.
"My father was a very gracious man that based his life on the lord and he would never want that man to have to live with that guilt and we know that," said Andrew, after being asked how he feels toward the driver of the car.
While Andrew says a future without his dad is hard to see.
"One of the things I will miss about him is the plans that our family has made with him in mind, we're going to have to change those," he said.
Andrew says his dad would never want his death to take away something else that means so much.
"Our family has had a lot of good memories on bikes and will continue having good memories on bikes," he said.
Police are still investigating the collision. They say it could take weeks. According to police the driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, has been cooperating.
They still don't know if charges could be filed.
The Bettger family says if the preliminary report and witness accounts are accurate they don't fault the driver.
