EAGLE - Home video shows Josiah Herring celebrating his older brother's 7th birthday, but his family had no idea he would never make it to his own birthday in July.
That same March night, dad, Jason Herring was shocked to learn doctors discovered a tumor in the little boy's brain.
"And I'm reading these statements that it's incurable and even if it goes into remission the re occurrence rate is 80 to 100 percent with these tumors," Herring said.
Mom, Suzanne Herring says she just wanted to be able to make her son feel better.
"It was an illness that I couldn't take away - a pain that I couldn't take away, and that was really difficult for me," Herring said.
Only 55 days after learning about Josiah's inoperable brain tumor, mom and dad would lose their little bundle of sunshine, and big brother, his best friend.
Jason Herring says his son lit up every room and was a big part of their church.
One of Josiah's close friends, 11-year-old Kobe Zimmerman says Josiah was like a little brother to him.
"When he'd play Hulk and Spiderman, he'd always squeal and act like he was attacking me," Zimmerman said.
After extensive research, the Herring family decided to spend Josiah's last days doing the things he loved most. A family Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World was at the top of the list.
But on the last morning of the vacation, while getting ready for breakfast with Mickey Mouse, the Herring family says Josiah went to sleep and never woke up.
"For a 4-year-old kid to go to sleep in Disney World at the Magic Kingdom and then to wake up in heaven, has got to be about the best way a kid could possibly go," his father said.
