Zachary Neagle in court.
CALDWELL - A 14-year-old Nampa boy accused of murdering his father with a high-powered rifle has pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Zachary Neagle, a former Vallivue Middle School student, has been charged as an adult with first degree murder. He's accused of killing his 33-year-old father, Jason Neagle. He was arraigned in court Friday morning.
Neagle's case has drawn nationwide attention and sparked several rallies in his support.
John Bujak, Canyon County prosecutor, says he understand that this case has generated a lot of interest.
"There's the emotional challenge and the public opinion challenge," Bujak said. "You can't look at Mr. Neagle in the courtroom and not have your heart go out to him to some degree."
Neagle's bail was set at $300,000 and a scheduling conference for his trial was set for July 9 at 2 p.m.
