Man drowns while swimming in canal
POCATELLO (AP) - The Power County Sheriff's Office says a 24-year-old man has drowned in an irrigation canal near Arbon Valley.

The man, a farm worker, was swimming with a group of people Sunday when he went under the water and didn't surface again.

Cpl. Jared Beck, who responded to the emergency call, dove in and was able to find the man on the bottom of the canal about 15 feet from where he'd last been seen. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The man's name has not been released pending notification of his family.
