It's that time of year again, fire season. Three fires hit the local region, while several more occurred in the Payette area.

The Piggy fire is three miles east of Riddle and is currently burning out in the desert, east of town. Officials say 63 acres are affected. Four engines are working on putting out the blaze along with a water tender truck and two bulldozers.

The Lucky Peak fire, located on mile-marker 12 on Highway 21 near the Hilltop Cafe, is affecting 10 acres. Officials say the blaze was contained around midnight on Sunday. Crews are currently mopping it up to make sure everything is contained.

Investigators say the fire was caused by a vehicle, but they don't know exactly how. No structures were threatened.

The Paddock fire, just south of the Paddock reservoir about 20 miles north of Emmett, threatened 525 acres but with low activity, mainly smoldering. Officials say a helicopter is assisting with the fire and no structures are threatened.

Officials say the largest and most active fire currently buring is the Mill Creek fire. This fire is burning approximately three miles northeast of Council. There are two helicopters, one smokejumper crew, two Forest Service engines as well as engines from local fire departments fighting this fire.

Officials also say more resources are on the way and three structures are threatened. A lightning storm from early Monday morning is believed to be the cause of the fire.

Two other fires near Cambridge and Midvale also occurred but have been contained; along with yet two more fires near Indian Valley, believed to have been human-caused, which are under control.
