The Treasure Valley Air Quality Council is taking comments on a new plan.
Currently, only Ada County has vehicle em missions standards, but under the new proposal, Canyon County drivers will also have to keep their emissions down.
Council members say the plan calls for remote emissions testing which will be less expensive than Ada County's current plan. They propose using a remote testing system where vehicles which are polluting can be caught as they drive past a testing unit.
The first public hearing will be held Monday, January 29 at the Ada County Courthouse. It is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. A second public hearing will be held at the Nampa City Hall on Wednesday, January 31 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
