800 acres burning in Gem County
EMMETT- A wildfire in Gem County that started just east of Emmett has now grown to about 800 acres.

The Boise District BLM says the Sand Hollow fire is burning about one and a half miles east of Emmett.

The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. There is currently no estimated containment or control time, BLM says.

The BLM says sandy soil, steep terrain and winds have been making their job more difficult.

Crews from Emmett, Gem County, Star, and the Boise National Forest are on hand to assist.
