The Boise State Broncos sit in fourth place in the first BCS Standings of the season.
The Bowl Championship Series, or BCS, is a combination of the USA Today/Coaches poll, the Harris Interactive Poll (Media, former players & media) and an average of six computer rankings.
Those three parts average to make the standings that decide college football's top bowl matchups at the end of the season.
Boise State is ranked ahead of Cincinnati, Iowa and USC - two of three teams ranked ahead of BSU in the AP poll.
In face, Boise State is ranked fifth in each of the polls that make up the BCS, but due to Cincinnati's sixth-place ranking in the Harris and Coaches polls, along with USC's 11 ranking by the computer portion of the BCS, both the Bearcats or Trojans are below the Broncos in the BCS standings.
