BOISE - Studies show that more American families are one paycheck away from facing foreclosure or going homeless.
So 2News hit the streets to find out what life is like if you ended up that way.
In mid-October, anchor Natalie Hurst, executive producer Robyn Farney and photographer Brian Hild hit the streets of Boise for 24 hours.
Dressed in sweat pants and sweat shirts and having no cash on hand, they kept to a four-block downtown area, from 16th and Americana to Jefferson.
Hurst, Farney and Hild visited areas along the Sanctuary, Corpus Christie, the River of Life and City Light.
Homeless people on the streets talked about how it isn't easy to get a start again, once you're down and out.
They credit programs like City Light for helping them get back on track, but also expressed frustrations, like learning to adjust to the shelter's structured lifestyle.
The experience on the streets was shot using both undercover and regular cameras and airs in a two-part series.
