BOISE - We've seen it before - Bronco fans hitting the road to support the team. But this time BSU wants those fans traveling in style. That means car stickers, car flags, and a big fan fan caravan.
"The best thing we are looking for is to just bring all the excitement from here in Boise to Logan," said Gerry Wilson, Kyle Wilson's older brother.
For the first time BSU is urging fans making the trip to Logan to hit the road together in a official caravan. The goal is to start with 35 to 40 cars in Boise.
"Then pick a few up in the Magic Valley along the way and some people in Eastern Idaho so when we get there we could we role into town with 60-70 vehicles or more," said Brad Larrondo, Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing.
During the roughly five hour trek the Wilson RV will help lead the way.
"As long as there is no snow we should be A-ok," Gerry Wilson said.
When asked hwo the road and weather conditions look for Friday's drive, 2 News Chief Meterologish Brian Carrington responded by saying: "Tomorrow I think there's not going to be much of a concern on the roadways."
Carrington says temperatures during the game should be about 45 to 50 degrees. But a storm coming through later Friday night could make the trip home a little dicey.
"The issue is the I-84 stretch between Treemonten and Burley. It's above 5,000 feet and that's the snow elevation for this storm so you will have some slick roads and some strong winds Friday evening," he said.
Carrington's advice: leave Saturday morning to avoid the weather. And BSU officials say that can't hurt when it comes to showing others Bronco fans will caravan.
"If you can travel and travel in large contingents the bowl games will obviously notice that," Larrondo said.
To be part of the caravan fans are urged to show up at 8:30 a.m. Friday on the West Side of Bronco Stadium near the Bronco Shop.
To check Idaho road conditions call #511.
Utah uses #511 as well. The toll free number is #(866)511-8824.
The Bronco Shop at the stadium will open early so caravan fans can get gear at a discounted price.
