Will Racy Billboards Stay Or Go?

Edgy billboards, scattered around the Treasure Valley, are drawing attention on the road. But, they're also drawing quite a bit of criticism from angry drivers, who say they're profane.

Two Caldwell moms think a billboard with "two boobs" has crossed the line when it comes to what they call public profanity.

"I don't want that tolerated in my community or anywhere else. I don't think it's appropriate anywhere really," said Carrie Dayley.

They're talking about a billboard for the "Bob and Tom Show". It's a nationally syndicated radio show that runs on 96.9 FM The Eagle, but the ad was locally produced.

"The audience for the Bob and Tom show is predominately men 25 to 54. We thought that would appeal to them and attract their attention," said Scott Souhrada, 96.9 FM Program Director.

But the complaint the radio station is getting, is that it's also attracting the attention of kids.

"The image is cartooney in nature. My kids both saw it and my daughter is seven and she said mom that's gross, that's immodest," said Kyla Mooso.

"I think it's against my parental rights because I can't turn it off like I do when I choose not to buy a magazine, or I choose not to go to the back of the video store," said Dayley.

The radio station says it has heard a lot of similar complaints from people who've seen the billboard. But The Eagle's program manager says it's not intentionally attracting kids. And he says the reality is, there are worse things out there.

"I think there's much more provocative stuff out there in the public than that billboard. I understand that many people don't agree with that viewpoint, but that is my viewpoint. There's worse stuff out there," said Souhrada.

So will it stay or will it go?

The station says it's taken all the public comment into account and has made a decision.. They'll be announcing it on the air Thursday morning at 7:20 a.m. Or if you don't want to listen you can call Citadel Broadcasting.
