BOISE - A man who was charged with video voyeurism for taking pictures up women's skirts has been sentenced to prison.
Paul Nichols was sentenced Friday to five years in prison after he was caught taking pictures at a Boise downtown ice cream shop. He'll have to serve two years before he's eligible for parole.
Authorities with Boise Police say they were called by two citizens to the Cold Stone Creamery in July.
Witnesses reported they had been in the business and saw Nichols hold a small camera beneath the skirts of two women. According to the witnesses, the women appeared to be unaware of the man's activity.
"The victims say they had no idea the suspect was behind them taking these pictures," said Lt. Alan Cavener, Boise Police Patrol Watch Commander said in July. "Citizens have a reasonable expectation of some privacy when they're in public."
The witnesses told officers they approached the man in the business and asked him about using the camera, and the suspect walked away. The witnesses immediately called police.
