PULLMAN, Wash. — A University of Idaho employee has been arrested in an incident in which a car struck pedestrians in two separate places on the Washington State University campus.
Daniel A. Noble, 31, of Moscow, Idaho, was arrested for suspicion of vehicular assault after the Monday morning incidents.
The students, Hogun Hahm 23, of Pullman and Neil T. Waldbjorn, 19, of Malaga, Wash., were taken to Pullman Regional Hospital. Hudson said the injuries were not life threatening, but were serious. He said one victim has a compound fracture in his leg.
Noble, who is employed by the University of Idaho Trust and Investment Office, remained in jail in Pullman, Hansen said.
The first victim was hit in a crosswalk on Stadium Way, the main street through the WSU campus, Hansen said. The second was struck at least a block away, when the vehicle turned onto the sidewalk, he said. The vehicle continued, but stopped a short distance away.
The suspect was uncooperative when authorities arrived, and police used a Taser to subdue him, Hansen said.
Dan Lahann, a friend of Noble, said the alleged incident was out of character.
"We went to the ballet yesterday, he seemed perfectly normal," Lahann said.
