Boise Fire offers safety tips
BOISE - From a mobile home fire in Boise back on the 10th and a house fire in Middleton the day later to a two-alarm shop fire in Nampa on the 15th and a garage fire near Maple Grove and Five Mile that day, the list goes on and on. The causes for these fires range from a pan of grease, to a space heater to an electrical grid overload.

Regardless of how they started, Boise Fire is using the rash of recent fires as an example to other homeowners.

"The holidays bring a lot of electrical items - Christmas lights and such," said Battalion Chief Steve Rasulo with the Boise Fire. "A lot of homes were never designed for the types of electrical equipment we have in them today. Add the lights and add the heaters and we have some potential electrical problems."

They offer up some tips:

-Don't overload a single outlet
-Never keep space heaters on overnight or unattended
-Make sure Christmas light displays on your house do not have exposed wires
-Keep your Christmas tree well watered, dry trees can catch on fire easily
-Check candle holders for sturdiness before lighting them
