HAILEY, Idaho (AP) — A south-central Idaho man with six drunken driving convictions was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Fifth District Judge Robert J. Elgee ordered 41-year-old Benito Aguayo Diaz earlier this week to serve at least three years of the prison sentence before he is eligible for parole.
Police have arrested Diaz seven times since the early 1990s on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He has been convicted six times, most recently in November after pleading guilty to a felony DUI.
Authorities say the Hailey resident is living in the United States illegally and will be deported after his release. He is being held on a $50,000 bond in Blaine County.
