How would Micron layoffs affect the housing market here in the Treasure Valley?
One housing expert says, "Not much".
The expert says there are about 400-thousand people living in the Treasure Valley and even the loss of one or two-thousand jobs wouldn't leave much of a scratch on the market.
Holland realty associate Chris Findlay says it's a little too soon to tell but the greatest effect will probably be psychological.
He says Micron has a history of letting people go and those workers usually don't leave town but get picked up by other companies or even start their own.
Findlay also believes that the company isn't about to lay off a bunch of high earners but more likely line workers who don't earn nearly as much and are less likely to buy homes.
So the housing market looks to remain steady.
