EVERETT, Wash. -- Police here have arrested a man accused of trying to sever his own son's penis.

Police spokesman Robert Goetz said officers responded to a 911 at approximately 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

They arrived at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Rockefeller Avenue and found an injured 1-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested the man in his 20s and booked him into the Snohomish County Jail under investigation of first-degree assault.

A motive has not been established, and the investigation is ongoing.
