MERIDIAN - Police in Meridian say a 20-year-old man shot and killed his infant son and then killed himself.
Meridian Police say they were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Pelican Way for a suicidal subject. Officers were informed that Nicholas Bacon had made suicidal and homicidal statements to his 19-year-old wife, with who he was separated.
Upon arrival officers attempted to make contact by telephone and by knocking on the door. When they received no answer, police went inside and found the bodies of the 20-year-old and the 9-month-old, Bekm.
Neighbors say they heard no gunfire but certainly noticed the response of police and paramedics around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
"I was in the garage and then heard the sirens," said Matt Earnest, neighbor. "There were a ton of cop cars, ambulances and firetrucks."
Police were contacted around that time by the 19-year-old estranged wife of 20-year-old Nicholas.
"They found both of them on the living room floor side by side," police said.
Both were deceased and officials say it appears the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Bekm also died from a gunshot wound.
According to court documents, Nicholas and his 19-year-old wife filed for divorce Feb. 1.
