BOISE - It's the first time Dirty Little Roddy's, China Blue and the Main Street Bistro made smokers light up outside.

Bar owner Ted Challenger tells KBOI 2news the last two days were busy. He says he's very happy with the new change and got a lot of positive feedback.

But downtown bar patrons had mixed reactions.

"I think it's great that the bars are going smoke free. It sucks coming home smelling like smoke after you go out," said Brian Friedrich, a Boise resident.

"I only smoke when I drink. And I like to smoke when I drink," said Suzette Nielsen, another Boise resident.

Challenger says the decision came down to health and money.

He doesn't regret making his bars smoke free because he says now he can provide a better quality experience for his customers.
