EAGLE - During Tuesday night's meeting Mayor Bandy's chair sat empty and his name tag was not present.
According to Council president Mike Huffaker, Bandy was out of town so he phoned into the meeting.
Council members spent time discussing how the formal application process for Bandy's replacement will occur.
They also talked about making Eagle's mayoral position a part time job again. But reaction on that idea is mixed.
"It's been done before for years on a part time basis so I think it could still be done on a part time basis now," said Shirley Ross, an Eagle resident.
"there are other cities around here that are full time. I think we probably should too. We are a little bigger than some," said another Eagle resident.
And former mayor Nancy Merrill agrees.
"I wold think with what Eagle is going through right now if we ever needed a full time mayor we need one now," Merrill said.
Right now Eagle's mayor makes $72,000 a year.
While Saundra McDavid, Bandy's opponent two years ago, believes the salary needs to be cut she says the hourly duties and requirements should remain the same.
"the citizens of Eagle want somebody who is available 24/7 looking out for their best interests. I don't believe it should be a part time position," she said.
Bandy's official last day will be this Thursday.
In the meantime Huffaker will serve as interim mayor.
The council is hoping to have a replacement by March 23rd but if they choose to change the position to part time a public hearing would need to be held.
