Coffee roaster sets off fire
BOISE - A Treasure Valley coffee shop burst into flames on Friday night and firefighters believe it could've been set off by a coffee roaster.

"We were out for a scooter ride and we saw fire engine come off Five Mile. We saw the smoke in the distance and sure enough when we got here flames were shooting through the roof," says Jeff Moebius, a near by witness.

Passers by saw the smoke and flames coming from the Treasure Valley Coffee shop on Executive Drive earlier tonight and it wasn't long before crews were putting it out.

"It took our crews about ten minutes to gain fire control," says Battalion Chief David Cooper with Boise Fire Department.

It all started in the coffee roaster. An employee said the beans tend to smolder and when left alone for a long time could be dangerous.

"We actually been out here a number of times. People drive by and they call in smoke and what they're really seeing is smoke from the coffee roaster, so it's not unusual for us to get calls out here, but this time it ended up being the real deal," says Cooper.

Fire crews say most of the fire was contained by the sprinklers in a small area when they got there, but there is still a significant amount of water damage to the building.
