BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Canyon County Dispatch says officials are investigating a homicide.

Lt. Marv Dashiell with Nampa Police said a man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body near Lake Lowell.

Officials have identified the man as James Groat, 27, of Nampa.

Groat's body was discovered Monday morning by a passerby in the area of Locust Lane and Midland Boulevard.

Although details are still limited, Dashiell told KBOI-TV that he's confident there's no immediate threat to the community.

Detectives are conducting interviews and processing evidence from the scene. They are also investigating what the possible motive would be for the crime.
