2 people in critical condition after a police involved shooting

BLISS, Idaho - A car chase that started in Mountain Home around 2:30 Sunday morning ended in Bliss with two people shot.

Investigators say The Mountain Home Police Department pulled over a a car for no headlights, then the driver took off eastbound on Interstate-84.

The car was heading down the interstate without its lights. Gooding County deputies encountered the car and initiated a traffic stop at the Y Inn Motel in Bliss.

Deputies say the male passenger got out of the car with his hands in the air based on the deputies' commands, but the female driver, for unknown reasons, shot the passenger.

After pointing the gun at law enforcement, a deputy shot the driver. Based on standard procedure, that deputy has been placed on administrative leave.

Both occupants of the vehicle were air-lifted to St. Alphonsus in Boise. They are listed in critical condition.

No deputies were injured in the incident. Investigators say the suspect's car has a Colorado license plate.
