Man spit in officer's face while yelling racial slurs, BPD says

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 22-year-old Boise man is accused of spitting in a police officer's face following a DUI stop over the weekend.

Boise Police said Monday an officer on patrol near Highland and Leadville was nearly hit by another vehicle early Saturday morning. The officer stopped the driver, identified as Siale I. Vailea, and could smell alcohol on Vailea's breath, BPD says. When Vailea was placed in the patrol card, police say Vailea damaged the patrol vehicle's rear antenna.

While being placed under arrest, officials say he spit in the officer's face while yelling racial slurs. Vailea has been charged with battery of an officer, malicious injury to property (both felonies), driving without privileges, resisting and obstructing and no proof of insurance.
