Boise man to blame for $200K worth of graffiti damage, BPD says

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Boise Police says for months, a 20-year-old local man has been tagging area businesses with graffiti.

Along the way, officials say, he's wracked up more than $200,000 in damages.

"Graffiti is one of the most commonly complained about crimes in the city people value their neighborhoods see graffiti as devaluing their property," said Captain Steve Myers of the Boise Police Community Outreach Division.

On Tuesday, BPD says it's charged Matthew E. Armstrong, with malicious injury to property. Armstrong has allegedly damaged up to 342 pieces of property including homes and garages, businesses, walls, utility boxes, parks and public schools.

Armstrong was already in jail on a probation violation when he was served with the new charges.
