Boise man gets 17.5 years in child porn case

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 39-year-old Boise man has been sentenced to 17-and-a-half years in federal prison after pleading guilty to taking videos while he sexually abused a 3-year-old girl in 2006 or 2007.

Ryan Leslie Matthews pleaded guilty in June to producing sexually explicit images of a minor. U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill sentenced Matthews on Wednesday, ordering him to pay $10,700 in restitution and putting him on probation for the rest of his life.

An investigation into Matthews began in August 2011 after Boise police learned someone at his address was downloading child pornography. A search of his apartment and computers in December turned up thousands of illegal images and videos.

Officers found the video of Matthews molesting the 3-year-old girl. Matthews told officers he molested another child in 2000.
