When police arrived, they say they found a person who was brandishing a handgun.

“One officer discharged his weapon multiple times. The male subject went back into his apartment and closed the door,” said Lt. Marv Dashiell of the Canyon County's Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was later found dead. It's uncertain whether that person died from officer gunfire. No police officers were injured.

Police say the man, who has not been identified, was described to be in his 60s. A gun was found near his body but it's unclear whether the man died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
