BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A woman who saw a trail of blood in a west Boise parking lot called 911, and when police arrived, they found a dead body.
Sarah Schaber pulled into a parking spot at her apartment complex and saw a car with its door open Saturday just after 8 p.m. She lives near Fairview Avenue and Five Mile Road.
"As I got closer, I seen all the blood drops down on the ground, and then I looked in the car and I seen the center console was very bloody and the door panel was bloody and the keys were just sitting right on the seat," Schaber said.
She never saw the body but says the blood led to a rocky ditch a few dozen feet away, where officers say they found a man believed to be in his 50s. They have not released his identity.
Firefighters sprayed the parking lot, washing away the majority of the blood.
"It is kind of scary," Schaber said. "I mean, I'm wondering if somebody in the complex has done that or if the guy, maybe it happened elsewhere and he drove in and parked here to get out and get help and just wound up in the ditch. There's a big question."
Police are releasing few details at this point but say they are investigating the cause of death.
