UPDATED: New Video from CBS 2 Eyewitness News 11AM.
It's the busiest shopping day of the year and people lined up for hours waiting to rush local stores in the early morning hours.
It looked like close to one thousand people lined up at Target in Boise and similar sights could be seen all across the Treasure Valley.
Police have stepped up patrols around the mall today.
The mall opened at 1am and people were smashed trying to get inside. Many left unhappy and said, in retrospect, going to the mall at 1am was a bad idea.
Boise Police says they had five officers at the mall and thought they were prepared, but soon realized they were outnumbered and had to double their presence.
According to Ada County Paramedics there were 6-8 calls for assistance at the mall between 12:30am and 2am alone. There were several reports of people being trampled as they tried to get inside.
The mood at Target however, was noticeably different. We reported live from Target for CBS 2 Eyewitness News at 6am and everyone seemed to be in very good spirits, waiting to swipe their credit cards for the season's must-have gifts.
Target had security and staff managing the crowd for it's 6am opening. Despite the nearly 1,000 people waiting to get inside, they kept everyone in a line stretching around the building which had things running much more smoothly than the mall a few hours earlier.
Today marks the first of 32 shopping days before the Christmas holiday.
