Jail expansion means 88 more beds
BOISE - The Ada County Sheriff's Office plans to build a new maximum security building which would house an additional 88 inmates.

The jail currently has 32 isolation cells. The $6 million facility will allow the county to safely manage inmates who may pose a threat to themselves or others.

Sheriff Gary Raney also said that thanks to Ada County Commissioners, the expansion will not be coming out of the taxpayer's wallet.

"They have held the budget very tight, and just like you and I do, they put money in a savings account. They know these capital improvements will be needed for the county to be able to run well. So they saved up enough money to be able to fund this expansion without increase taxes," Raney said.
