Dam removal should benefit steelhead

TROY, Idaho - Steelhead are getting some help in northern Idaho. Crews in Troy are taking out an abandoned dam. The dam was buil in 1919 and abandoned just six years later in 1925. Sediment from farming built up rendering the reservoir useless.

Idaho Fish and Game says steelhead tagging efforts show there are a lot of fish below the dam. Its removal should help fish get through to better spawning areas.
