Spokane dog held for ransom returned home

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A dog named Susie Q is back home with her owner in Spokane after being held for ransom.

KREM reports the 11-year-old dog ran away in early January and was found by a man. He saw owner Richard Whiteoak's number on her collar and took her to his home.

The finder said he needed $60 cash and when Whiteoak balked the man took off with Susie Q.

Whiteoak was worried he never see his pet again, but he heard a knock on his door Monday night and found Susie Q on a leash tied to the door knob.
