Police: Portland man arrested with 117 pounds of pot in SUV

LAKEVIEW, Ore. – State police arrested a Southeast Portland man who they said had approximately 117 pounds of marijuana in his SUV.

A trooper stopped Paul William Houfek, 31, for a speeding violation on Highway 140W near Lakeview, Ore. Thursday afternoon.

The trooper and a drug-detecting dog discovered 117 pounds of pot inside a large gun safe in Houfek’s SUV. The pot was inside 94 different sealed packages, police said.

The estimated street value of the marijuana is $290,000, according to police.

The trooper took Houfek to the Lake County Jail on several drug charges.
