Seattle toddler killed in fall from third story window
SEATTLE -- A 2-year-old child was killed Tuesday night when she fell from a third story window in Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood.

Drew Fowler with the Seattle Police Department said someone called 911 at about 7:20 p.m. to report a child falling from a window at an apartment in the 800 block of NE 88th Street.

When officers and medics arrived, they learned the child had accidentally fallen out of a window on the third floor and landed on a playground below. The girl was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries.

A hospital official confirmed the girl died Tuesday night.

The apartment building is run by Abused Deaf Women's Advocacy Services, and neighbors said the child's mother is hearing impaired.

Neighbors in the building were shocked to learn of the accident.

"This little girl was amazing," one neighbor said. "She was beautiful. This nice laugh, beautiful smile. I miss her so much."

Police say the fall was accidental and no charges will be filed.
