BOISE - People may know the healthy options.
"I see a lot of broccoli, vegetables, salads," said David, a Boise resident.
"Fruits, vegetables, salads, poultry," said Victoria Thuge, another Boise resident.
That doesn't always mean you choose those options especially with so many places to grab food and go.
"I love their french fries," said Gretchen, a Boise resident, when asked McDonald's.
Now McDonald's is hoping to change that perception by launching a new Good Fit Meal Program.
The fast food chain has partnered with Central District Health Department for the pilot program. At 35 McDonald's throughout Southwest Idaho people can order from 13 Good Fit Meals, each meal is under 700 calories and each meal has been certified by the health departments nutritionist.
"We're trying to encourage more people to get more nuts, seeds, whole grains," said Nancy Rush with Central District Health.
McDonald's and Central District Health officials say the program is designed help people make smarter food choice on the road but ultimately it's up to the customer to have the final say.
