More kids at Boise women's shelter
BOISE - For Angela Broberg, having three young children means three times the laughs. Three reasons to keep going strong.

Before becoming a full-time mom, Broberg graduated high school, went to college and found herself a good job. But two weeks ago, life took an unexpected turn.

"As soon as I lost my job, then we lost electricity and just everything fell apart," Broberg said.

Now Broberg is homeless. She is one of many moms staying at the Boise Rescue Mission's City Light Home for Women and Children.

The Rescue Mission says the rise in homeless guests is a growing concern. On average, the shelter is housing 58 people a night, including 10-15 children. Some of the children are less than six months old.

"There's one lady who's here and her son is 9 days old," Broberg said.

The Rescue Mission believes the economy and rising food and gas prices are to blame. Now Mission directors are concerned about how many women and children they'll be serving later this winter.

The mission is looking for donations from the public, to help keep up with the growing demand for its services.

For more information on making a donation, call the Boise Rescue Mission at (208) 343-2389.
