'Mayors on Wheels' serve up hot dishes
NAMPA - In this tough economy, almost everyone is struggling to stay afloat, especially seniors.
So this week, Nampa mayor Tom Dale joined in the fight against hunger for "Mayors for Meals Day." Every day, Mercy Medical Center's Meals on Wheels program help more than 90 people and Dale said the event highlights the community's support for seniors.
"It's a tremendous feeling to go and deliver that food and realize how much they need it," Dale said.
March for Meals is a nation-wide campaign to raise awareness of senior hunger.
"I really thank (the volunteers) from the bottom of my heart," said Lena, a Meals on Wheels participant.
