Caldwell woman charged with murder
CALDWELL - Caldwell Police say a woman has been arrested for murder after a body was found inside a home early Thursday morning.

Police say a body was found at about 5 a.m. in a Caldwell neighborhood near 11th and Arthur streets. John Bujak, Canyon County prosecutor, says Sherryl Sasenberry has been arrested.

Police say Sasenbery said that there was a physical fight between her and her roommate from which the roommate attacked her. When officers arrived they found Sasenbery lying on the floor.

After searching the house, officers located the deceased victim in the bathroom.

Sasenbery was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released with no signs of any visible injuries. Sherryl was then transported to Caldwell Police Department where she was interviewed by investigators.

The victim, police say, sustained injuries "consistent with being stabbed with a knife."

A large kitchen knife was also located at the scene. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time by Caldwell Police until confirmation of the identity and family is notified.

"It hurts my heart," said Dwight Thompson, who works nearby. "It's terrible that things like this have to happen in this beautiful town."

Residents in the area say the neighborhood is no stranger to crime.

"We've had SWAT teams out in this area due to gang activities, but this is pretty big," a neighbor said.

The owners of the house do not currently live in the residence and are renting it out.

An autopsy will be conducted Friday.

This is the second murder for the city of Caldwell in just one month. Last May, Zachary Neagle, 14, was charged with shooting his father in the back of his head.
