NAMPA, Idaho -- A 5-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries Friday night after he rode his bike in front of traffic, police officials said.
Crash investigators said that the boy was not wearing a helmet when he rode west with traffic on 2nd St into the intersection of 11th Avenue.
Witnesses told police that the boy rode his bike in front of two cars headed south on 11th avenue. The first car stopped in time, but it blocked the view of the second vehicle which hit the boy, witnesses stated.
Officials said they have not issues the Nampa woman driving the second vehicle any citations.
The boy was taken to Boise Hospital for treatment of his serious head injuries, police said.
The Nampa Police S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Team is heading the investigation.
