10 things to buy before the economy improves
BOISE - If you're into diamonds, experts said now may be the time to indulge.
"Because people aren't buying as many, it's forced the price to come back down to where it's actually more affordable," said Chris McLaughlin, owner of M & M Jewelers in Boise.
McLaughlin estimates diamond prices are down 25%. The precious stones are on the Forbes list of '10 Things to Buy Before the Economy Improves."
Other items on the list include: housing, cars, vacations, toys, high dividend stocks, furniture, women's clothing, TVs and computers.
Managers at Best Buy said computers and TVs are in high demand. They said it's a surprising trend this summer when cameras are usually their big sellers.
The discounts can be significant, according to managers. "You're looking at hundreds of dollars," said Nathan Dunwoodie, Best Buy manager.
Dunwoodie said some computers are going for as much as $500 less than there were last year.
It's uncertain when the economy will recover, but stores said these types of deals won't last forever.
