Bicyclist injured after being hit by car
EMMETT, Idaho - Ada County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a crash that injured a bicyclist Thursday morning on Highway 16 near the city of Star.

Just after 9 a.m., deputies were called to a report of a pick-up truck that had hit a bicyclist riding south on Highway 16 near High Ridge Lane. The truck, driven by a 42-year old Meridian man, suddenly left his lane, drove onto the shoulder, and hit the cyclist, police say.

The investigation into what caused the driver of the truck to leave the road is ongoing, but a mechanical problem may have contributed to the accident. No citations will be made until after the investigation is complete.

The cyclist suffered injuries to his leg and arm and was airlifted to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
